Everything you need to know about Stanford

Palo Alto, California, United States.

Stanford University, was founded in 1885, by Leland Stanford, senator from California and his wife Jane with the aim of “promoting public welfare by exercising an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization”.

The Standfords, together with President and founder David Starr Jordan, advocated for a type of college education that was not sectarian, but rather coeducational and accessible to all, where students learned liberal arts such as technology and engineering and graduated being cultured and useful for a be part of an innovative society that was already changing America.

Until the 1930s, Stanford did not have much relevance, until Herbert Hoover, a graduate of the university, was president of the United States. Until 1934, however, Stanford acquired its popularity, when in 1939, W. Hansen, the Russelly brothers and Sigurd Varian, invented the Klystron tube, a high-frequency generator, key in World War II radars.

From that moment, Stanford, developed its international fame thanks to its technological projects, and for being the cradle of such important companies as Cisco, Google, Yahoo!, among others. Likewise, among students and professors at Stanford, there are 31 Nobel laureates and it ranks in the highest positions in the rankings of American universities, especially in fields such as Computer Engineering or Business Sciences.
